Yes it is good to hear that people have not forgotten the slight issue we have in HULL with our independent Telecommunication Company (Kingston Communications /Torch). Though the many issues that have revolved around this is that any telecommunication company that moves into Hull, must add there own lines and establish their networks as this can not be provided by Kingston Communication due to issues with lines being different to every where else in the UK. So in theory the new Telecommunication company must pay millions to establish them selves in the Hull and the surrounding areas which is currently too expensive. Though BT can not touch KC as BT owns most of the UK and is not allowed to remove a independent provider (KC) as the will cause BT to own even more of the Market share within the Telecomm market

It's good to hear that this issue is getting more attention.

My connection isn't that bad. It's fairly stable, however the price is ridiculous as is the traffic shaping. If we had more competition I would move in a heartbeat.

I don't live in Hull, but my BBC local news is Look North with Peter Levy and co. I've watched quite a few features about Kingston Communications and their monopoly, it's hard to believe that a city such as Hull can let this happen. The last report I watched on subject talked about taking the issue to the European courts. It also mentioned that other providers had been contacted but were reluctant to comment, probably due the HUGE investment it would need to enter into the Hull area. All-in-all a sorry state of affairs and not good for Hull residents :|
